Ibrahim Traore disinformation campaign
I see some threads on this sub declaring support for Ibrahim Traore, but not realizing that what they are posting is disinformation. One of the largest disinformation campaigns is taking place on the internet right now in support of Traore. This includes AI generated videos and narrations, ghostwriters, and an entire army of bots that all echo the same pattern of comments. Burkina Faso was a French puppet state and with Traore’s rise to power, it has turned into a Russian puppet state which contradicts his message of pan-Africanism. He has expelled all foreign media and has imprisoned many local journalists as well. So the real news about what’s happening in Burkina Faso is not truly visible to the world. For the fair share of African YouTubers that have gone to Burkina Faso and ‘reported’ on public sentiment of Traore there, they have clearly gotten approval from the Traore regime to do so and an approval only granted if they make a favorable news report of him.
So no, he has not truly eliminated poverty, made universities free, nationalized goldmines (he nationalized two but this is unrelated to his message), and is definitely not building paved roads across the country. Instead of French mercenaries, he has brought in Russian mercenaries (Wagner) which has been slaughtering entire towns since arriving – In the name of getting rid of the Al Qaeda problem Burkina Faso has but by eliminating many innocent civilians, it has increased Al Qaeda’s numbers in Burkina Faso. Unfortunately there are only 5M people from Burkina Faso that has internet access so the truth is hard to come out, and they don’t speak English either. The country’s working language is French, but only 25% of the country knows French. Many speak Mooré but literacy rates are not high. Most Burkinabes finish school at primary school. Because of these factors, you can bet that this disinformation campaign is being ran entirely by outsiders (probably Russia but cannot confirm).
No country from the African Union supports Traore for a reason. Please be aware of any video or news article that is declaring their support for Traore. I agree with his message of pan-Africanism, but he is turning out to be no different than the other corrupt and violent dictators that our beautiful continent has seen.
