Sudan Accuses UAE of Orchestrating Drone Strikes on Port Sudan

Sudan has pointed fingers at the United Arab Emirates for a recent drone attack on Port Sudan, alleging direct military intervention. The assault, reportedly launched from a UAE military base with naval support in the Red Sea, marks a significant escalation in the civil war against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The strike on May 4th, as claimed by Khartoum’s ambassador to the United Nations, Al-Harith Idriss, is believed to be in retaliation for an army incursion against an alleged Emirati warplane in Nyala. The UAE, accused by Sudan of arming and financing rebel groups, has refuted these claims. The incident has pushed Port Sudan, traditionally a safe zone, into a state of vulnerability, with recent drone attacks targeting vital installations. With the situation intensifying, Sudan has called on international bodies like the United Nations, the African Union, and the Arab League to investigate and hold the perpetrators accountable.
