American Retail Analyzing the Impact of a Strong Holiday Shopping Season

Consumers across the nation surprised everyone with their holiday spending habits. In November and December, people opened their wallets wider than expected, creating a buzz in the retail industry. The Commerce Department’s data revealed a 4% increase in retail sales compared to the previous year, thanks to enthusiastic purchases of cars, clothing, and electronics.

While some stores like Target celebrated a nearly 3% rise in total sales during the festive season, others such as Macy’s faced stagnant numbers.
