Morocco’s fashion scene is buzzing with excitement as the Morocco Fashion Style and Tex show takes center stage in Casablanca. This year, the exhibition is not just about showcasing the latest fabrics and trends; it’s a celebration of sustainability. With over 400 companies from 16 countries participating, there’s a vibrant display of everything from elegant special occasion dresses to cozy knits and innovative fabric samples.
One of the standout features of this year’s show is the emphasis on sustainability. Turkish company Fill A More is drawing attention with its range of yarn made from 100 percent recycled materials. Tamer Tamturk from Fill A More expresses their pride in promoting eco-friendly yarns, stating,
“It is a big honour for us to be here and promote our yarns… almost every content has this chance to be promoted in sustainable versions.”
Egypt’s National Council for Women is championing fabric recycling, showcasing a variety of eco-friendly products crafted from reused fabrics such as clothing, bags, and notebooks. May Mahmoud highlights the positive reception these items are receiving at the exhibition.
Chinese companies are also making their mark at the event with collections featuring pyjamas and jackets. Shaoxing Zhuxiang Textile stands out by focusing on developing new fabrics despite market challenges. Annie Zeng acknowledges the tough competition they face but remains committed to improving their items, especially nylon products and recyclables.
The theme of waste reduction echoes throughout the exhibition, with European companies demonstrating a commitment to long-lasting production and minimizing waste. Amadeusz Wieteska from Natural Fabrics explains their approach:
“We believe in upcycling and recycling so that you can reuse… we would like to make sure that things that we produce are ecological and can last for many years.”
As visitors explore the diverse displays and innovative solutions at Casablanca’s Morocco Fashion Style & Tex show, they witness firsthand how fashion can seamlessly blend creativity with sustainability. The 10th edition promises an immersive experience running from May 28th to 31st, 2025, expected to draw over 20,000 attendees eager to engage with fashion through a lens of environmental consciousness.
