Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez had an important telephone conversation.
“The two leaders discussed the situation in Gaza, other regional issues, and bilateral relations,”
stated the Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson.
During their call, they reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering their countries’ relationship, following President Al-Sisi’s visit to Madrid in February 2025. Their aim is to further cooperation across various sectors such as economy, trade, and investment that align with both nations’ interests.
“Both sides expressed their strong opposition to ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza and the displacement of Palestinians. They called for an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid access, and progress towards a two-state solution with increased recognition of a Palestinian state,”
highlighted the spokesperson.
Moreover, they emphasized supporting the Arab-Islamic initiative for rebuilding Gaza without uprooting its residents while also addressing matters concerning Syria, Lebanon, and Libya. The leaders stressed the importance of maintaining these countries’ unity, territorial integrity, and security.
“It is crucial for Egypt and Spain to continue collaborating on regional issues due to their significant roles in promoting stability within the region,”
