Governor Seyi Makinde A Presidential Prospect in the Making

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is not just a leader; he’s a visionary with qualities that transcend ordinary politics. According to Kunmi Mustapha, former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Political Affairs, the governor possesses the bravery and leadership acumen necessary for higher office—in fact, Mustapha believes that Makinde is presidential material.

Mustapha’s endorsement comes on the heels of Makinde’s sixth anniversary in office, where he praised the governor’s unwavering dedication to improving both Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. In his statement, Mustapha highlighted how Makinde has elevated governance by focusing on key areas like urban renewal, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. He also commended Makinde’s commitment to boosting the agroeconomy, enhancing workers’ welfare, driving employment opportunities, and caring for marginalized groups such as the elderly.

“Makinde has distinguished himself as a brave man who exhibits uncommon leadership traits,”

Mustapha remarked.

“There has not been any politician in Yorubaland… who has had a vision for the development of the masses.”

Drawing parallels between Makinde and renowned leader Pa Obafemi Awolowo, Mustapha emphasized that true leadership lies in genuine concern for people’s well-being—a quality he believes sets Makinde apart from mere politicians.

As discussions around Nigeria’s political landscape intensify, Mustapha urged Nigerians to rally behind leaders like Makinde who prioritize public welfare over personal gain. He underlined that amidst challenges facing the PDP nationally, there remains hope for a resurgence—and with figures like Governor Seyi Makinde at the forefront, reclaiming power in 2027 could be within reach.

Looking ahead to future aspirations, Mustapha expressed full confidence in Governor Makinde’s abilities:

“Come rain or shine… we commit our loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde; we urge him to start work towards 2027 because Nigerians are waiting for him to rescue them.”

This call-to-action signals not just support for an individual leader but belief in a transformative vision—one that promises positive change and progress on a national scale.

In acknowledging key party figures including Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and Deputy National Chairman Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja among others—Mustapha underscored their role in fostering unity within the PDP. Their collective efforts demonstrate a shared commitment towards building a stronger political foundation—one capable of propelling dedicated leaders like Governor Seyi Makinde onto even greater stages of influence and impact.
