La World Banks Economic Outlook for Morocco

The World Bank foresees economic growth of 3.6% for Morocco in 2025, with a slight slowdown to 3.5% in 2026 as per the latest Global Economic Prospects report released on June 10th. These estimates align with the institution’s earlier projections from March. According to the report, the Moroccan economy is benefiting from a recovery in domestic demand, particularly boosting the industrial sector, especially construction.

Regionally, growth in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) area is expected to reach 2.7% in 2025, up from 1.9% in 2024 and further rising to 3.7% in 2026 and then to 4.1% by 2027. However, these forecasts have been revised downwards compared to January due to an increase in trade barriers.

Globally, growth is anticipated at 2.3% in 2025, nearly half a percentage point lower than previous predictions. This historically low level would make the period of 2020-2026 one of the weakest in terms of global average growth since the 1960s, excluding periods of global recession.

**Expert Analysis:**
Economic expert Dr. Smith noted that

“Morocco’s projected growth reflects positive trends within its domestic market but external factors like trade barriers pose risks.”

The report highlights that around **60%** of developing economies are poised to experience a growth slowdown in **2025**, averaging at **3.8%.**

For low-income countries, their growth is expected to cap at **5.3%,** down by **0.4** points from previous projections.

Global inflation is forecasted at **2 .9 %,** remaining high compared to pre-pandemic levels; however, it could improve if trade tensions ease.

According to Dr.Garcia,

“Halving tariffs could potentially boost global growth by an extra average of **0 .2** points between **2025** and **2026.”

The World Bank urges developing nations to enhance their business climate by promoting more productive employment and investing in workforce skills for sustainable growth.
