The source of this intriguing phenomenon was later officially recognized as the Charlottetown meteorite, christened after the city on Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada where it gracefully descended from the heavens. Joe Velaidum, one half of the duo who witnessed this cosmic spectacle firsthand along with his partner Laura Kelly, reflected on their close encounter with celestial fortune. Recounting how he had been standing mere moments before directly above the impact site where destiny struck in cosmic form, Mr. Velaidum shared his introspections saying,
“I have been thinking about it a lot because when you have a near-death experience it kind shocks you.”
In an intriguing twist of fate, Dr. Herd coincidentally found himself scheduled for a family vacation in Prince Edward Island just ten days post-meteorite crash.
