Osun 2026 NNPP Gears Up for Gubernatorial Election Showdown

The political arena in Osun State is heating up as the Nigerian National Peoples Party (NNPP) in the state gears up for the upcoming gubernatorial election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set August 8, 2026, as the date for this highly anticipated event, sparking excitement and anticipation among political parties.

In a bold declaration of readiness, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the state chairman of NNPP, expressed eagerness to bring about political change in Osun State. He specifically targeted the Ademola Adeleke-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government, accusing it of relying heavily on propaganda in its governance practices.

Odeyemi’s statement resonated with determination as he emphasized the importance of voting based on conscience rather than emotions. He mentioned plans to engage with citizens across all wards in Osun State to raise awareness about the significance of their votes and encourage them to make informed choices.

“We cannot wait to sack the Ademola Adeleke-led PDP government,”

Odeyemi asserted confidently.

“Our party will embark on a tour of every ward to sensitize citizens on voting wisely.”

Furthermore, Odeyemi extended an olive branch to individuals aspiring to lead Osun State, highlighting NNPP’s commitment to fairness and equality in welcoming new members. He also expressed willingness to collaborate with like-minded political parties dedicated to rescuing the state from what he described as a regime marked by nepotism.

“As we’ve earlier affirmed, the Osun 2026 gubernatorial election will be a funny and surprising game,”

Odeyemi remarked cryptically. His words hinted at a potentially unpredictable and fiercely contested electoral battle unlike any seen before in Osun State.

Amidst these preparations and spirited rhetoric from NNPP, concerns about adherence to electoral rules were raised. Odeyemi urged all political actors in Osun State not to jeopardize peace and stability for personal gain:

“No one should set our state on fire due to selfish interests.”

As tensions rise with each passing day leading up to the election date announced by INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu for both Ekiti and Osun states, stakeholders brace themselves for what promises to be a politically charged period ahead.

The stage is set for a dramatic showdown as various parties position themselves strategically while voters eagerly await their chance to make their voices heard through the ballot box come August 8th.
