Habila Hosea Mutla, the General Manager of Plateau United, recently shared insights about their strategic plans for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. Despite facing setbacks during the 2024/2025 season, including a points deduction due to an unfortunate incident, the team is looking to maintain continuity with Head Coach Mbwas Mangut.
The past season was not without its challenges as Plateau United encountered difficulties that affected their performance on the field. Following a series of tough matches and internal pressures, the club’s management issued a three-match ultimatum to Head Coach Mbwas Mangut. However, despite this ultimatum, no immediate action was taken against the coach.
Mutla explained their decision at that critical juncture by stating,
“Where are we going to get a better coach at this stage of the season? So, the best decision was to let the current coach continue and for everyone to work even harder.”
This move proved beneficial as it helped Plateau United avoid relegation in a competitive league environment.
Reflecting on their patience and support for Mangut during challenging times, Mutla emphasized the importance of continuity in football success. He highlighted that constant changes within a team can disrupt progress and hinder players from fully grasping their coach’s strategies. Mutla stressed on maintaining stability within the team structure while making strategic player additions in key positions.
“In football, continuity is key to success… Why keep changing players when they are just beginning to understand the coach’s philosophy and methods?”
Mutla pointed out. He underlined the significance of thorough pre-season planning as a crucial factor for achieving success in professional football leagues.
