The United Nations recently marked the forthcoming centennial of Beijing’s iconic Palace Museum with a captivating stamp launch and exhibition at its New York headquarters. The event, dubbed “Endless Vitality: UN Stamp Launch & Palace Museum Exhibition,” showcased a unique stamp series designed by the UN Postal Administration to honor the museum’s 100th anniversary and International Museum Day. The stamps, featuring 10 intricate floral designs inspired by the museum’s extensive artifact collection, symbolize centuries of cultural exchange. This collaborative initiative, organized by the Palace Museum and the UN Chinese Book Club with support from the Global Sustainable Development Goals and Leadership Development Centre, underscores a commitment to preserving and innovating China’s rich cultural heritage. Wu Di, director of the Cultural and Creative Development Department at the Palace Museum, emphasized the significance of the museum, formerly known as China’s Forbidden City, which served as a pivotal center of governance and residence for 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
